Highlighted Zixi Innovations
at IBC 2024

As part of the exhibition, Zixi released a diverse set of new features and enhancements across the various product lines including:

  • TCO analysis of large-scale IP delivery applications, compared to other industry alternatives, considering the latest efficiency developments in bandwidth and requirements of the Zixi protocol and the SDVP resulting in up to 50% egress and 95% compute savings.
  • Market Switching, allowing content distributors to switch content based on ESAM/ESNI for regionalization of content or blackouts enabling traditional workflows in IP-based, cloud deployment
  • High-Performance Networking leveraging DPDK to achieve significant throughput efficiency improvements while utilizing only a fraction of the processing power.
  • DPDK based security to protect against ransomware loopholes and OS as a soft target by bypassing the kernel or operating system layer, enabling secure segmentation of DMZ and private network management
  • Error Concealment replaces video frames containing errors with skip frames while keeping audio in sync, overcome situations where unrecoverable packet loss on input streams corrupts video frames
  • Timeline Normalization repairs timelines in the transport stream introduced by upstream encoding and processing that may not have clean timelines. This feature helps sensitive to timeline issue IRDs dramatically improving stream ingest
  • Smooth Live Midroll Insertion, possible to insert an advertisement or a fixed length slate or blackout directly into the live stream output

Zixi Thought Leadership Across the Conference:

Devoncroft Executive Summit

The Devoncroft Executive Summit was a highly informative and sold-out event, featuring the latest industry market research and analysis from Devoncroft Partners Primary Analyst Josh Stinehour who used Zixi examples in the keynote. A key topic of discussion was TCO, as IP video transport offers significant cost reductions compared to legacy workflows, enabling customers to reallocate budgets to content creation and monetization in other areas of their business and unlock new commercial opportunities. However, hidden costs can arise, particularly with open-source solutions that seem free initially.

Zixi’s SVP of Business Development and Marketing, John Wastcoat, opened the event with remarks emphasizing the importance of TCO in decision-making. Zixi CEO Gordon Brooks joined a panel of CEOs to discuss trends in broadcasting, IP, and cloud deployments, as well as strategies for navigating an evolving market. Michelle Noon, Founder and Managing Partner of Zixi primary investor Clearhaven Partners then took the stage with Stinehour to discuss how Private Equity can be a benefit to companies in media and entertainment without bringing a fixed playbook, modern valuation metrics, and how data driven processes can lead to a higher return for shareholders than public markets.

IBC Showcase Theatre

Zixi CEO Gordon Brooks led an engaging panel discussion at the IBC Showcase Theatre titled “Next Generation, Cost-Effective Media and Entertainment Workflows with Zixi, NHL and Verizon.” During the session Godon, Grant Nodine from the NHL and Timothy Stevens from Verizon Business explored how the three organizations are leveraging 5G networks to deliver NHL content, significantly reducing costs for broadcasters while streamlining complex cloud-based video workflows to meet a variety of production needs.
