Zixi as a Service provides a complete solution for end-to-end IP video delivery without the need to manage infrastructure.
Today Zixi announced the global availability of Zixi as a Service (ZaaS), broadcast infrastructure as a service that enables media companies and service providers to quickly ingest and distribute live video over any IP with ultra-low latency.
With heightened demand for service without the necessity to manage infrastructure, ZaaS enables customers to rapidly deploy IP transport workflows with all the features and functionality of the SDVP. The offering allows media and entertainment companies to easily extend existing on-premises infrastructures and capabilities to the cloud, delivering broadcast quality video while also being able to provision, orchestrate, manage and monitor complex workflows from anywhere in the world using the ZEN Master control plane.
Utilized by dozens of Zixi customers over the past several years, ZaaS is now being offered globally as the preferred way to deploy the SDVP, but organizations that elect to deploy Zixi on premises or in their own cloud instances still have the option to do so. ZaaS supports a completely redundant video pipeline, protecting against all failure scenarios for a near 100% uptime with Zixi’s patent-pending hitless failover that provides redundant transmission options for higher reliability and disaster recovery. Zixi Broadcasters are deployed in geographically diverse data centers and, on both the sending and receiving sides, Zixi software is connected to independent ISPs and employs hitless failover for maximum reliability. Many customers leverage ZaaS for universal aggregation and distribution to multiple affiliates for 24 x 7 live linear workflows, and users can also create efficient workflows for occasional use events, activating dynamic pull targets in the cloud as needed.
Service broadcasters can easily scale to add new partners, leveraging ZaaS for cloud video processing as well as the additional data, analytics, security and Quality of Service that consumers mandate. ZaaS allows companies to easily push or pull live and live linear video into or out of the cloud, providing a complete solution for end-to-end video workflows. Most broadcasters use the award-winning Zixi protocol for delivery, but ZaaS also supports RIST, RTP+FEC, HLS, CMAF, HLS, DASH, SRT or RTMP making it interoperable with existing workflows. The vast Zixi Enabled Network of over 300 integrated technology partners and service providers, and Zixi’s wide range of global customers, makes it easy to move content to and from anywhere in the world in broadcast quality with no or minimal changes to existing infrastructure.
“ZaaS gives content owners efficiencies to easily syndicate and deliver their live linear content to multiple affiliates and gives providers a seamless way to acquire that content from anywhere in the world,” said Uri Avni, co-founder and CTO, Zixi. “This flexible offering also lets service providers operate a fully managed content exchange platform for live linear video between content owners and consumers.”
