Zixi helped Hotstar, India’s premium streaming platform, hit a new world record for the total number of concurrent video streams for the IPL 2019 Final held on May 12th, 2019.
The IPL 2019 Final saw over 300 million unique visitors log on to live stream the tournament, leading to a 74% increase in watch-time vs. 2018. Peak streaming occurred with an unprecedented 18.6 million concurrent live streams, up from 10.7 million concurrent views for last year’s final.
Hotstar leveraged Zixi and AWS Elemental MediaConnect technology to create a more efficient tech stack that enabled higher quality streams at lower bit-rates than ever before.
