EXTENDING MARKET KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE TO STANDARDS EFFORT
Zixi, the industry leader for enabling dependable, live broadcast-quality video over unmanaged and managed IP, today announced product availability for the emerging Reliable Internet Stream Transport (RIST) initiative being developed from members of the Video Services Forum. The VSF is an international association comprised of service providers, users and manufacturers dedicated to interoperability, quality metrics, and education for media networking technologies. Zixi, continuing a long history of advocating for and adopting open standards such as MPEG-DASH, MMT, SMPTE 2022-2 and 2022-7 (RTP), have called on over twelve years of experience delivering Emmy-winning, mission-critical solutions to prominent media companies, OEMs, and service providers, to be major contributors to the RIST Specification.
As an emerging standard in the early recommendation phase that – as it develops – will likely gain traction within the customer community, Zixi has been participating in RIST development, adding to the recommendation in order to assure future interoperability with new clients, customers, and Zixi’s more than 350 strong install base around the world. Zixi’s enhanced RIST does not interfere with the workgroup’s recommendations. Rather, Zixi RIST combines Forward Error Correction, re-transmission, and congestion avoidance, in an efficient way. Zixi RIST is slated to add many more features beyond the Zixi Broadcaster, TR 101 Network Analytics, Content Quality Analytics, hitless failover for over 99.999 reliability, network bonding, as well as the ubiquitous view and detailed reporting in Zixi’s ZEN Master monitoring tools.

“We have been engaging in many interoperability tests with all current members of the Video Services Forum working group,” said Uri Avni, founder and CTO, Zixi “The results are encouraging, and we will continue to support the initiative as it evolves.”
